The saying, ‘When it rains, it pours’ has taken on a whole new meaning recently.
I’m so thankful that books can let you escape when everything else around you is topsy turvy. I hope everyone is safe and well and has enjoyed a lovely Easter with family and friends.
It’s marvellous to be back in The Hive and I can’t wait to have everyone returning and borrowing books again. Although, I did also enjoy visiting other school libraries whilst we were at adventure school. It was wonderful to see how these spaces are used in other schools. I’ve been inspired and look forward to bringing new ideas to our collection and library space.
You may have become aware that our overdue notices have been reactivated. Please use these emails as a reminder of what books your child may have at home. Students are encouraged and welcome to return their books on their library day or anytime during lunch breaks. Please let me know if you have any flood damaged or missing books. These will need to be removed from our catalogue system. There will be no charges for these books.
Do you have a budding author or illustrator at home? Alphabet Soup is an online kid’s magazine for ‘children who love books and creative writing’. They seek submissions for book reviews written by children 12 and under and have a long list of upcoming writing and illustrating competitions for the next Jeannie Baker and Nat Amoore to enter. Scholastic Book Club orders are due no later than Friday 6 May. This opportunity not only gives your child great books for home but every purchase contributes to rewards points for our library to get new books too! Ordering is easy. Visit Scholastic Loop online https://mybookclubs.scholastic.com.au/parent/login.aspx and order your books. We do not receive cash orders at our school. Your child’s order will be delivered to our school and when they arrive, I will make sure they make it to your child as quickly as I can.
